The 5 best beaches in Mallorca

The belle of the Balearics, Mallorca is known for its dreamy coastline, secluded coves and powdery white sands. There are quietly tucked away beaches, hidden from all the hustle and bustle, as well as others that are more popular during high-season and offer a buzzing atmosphere. 1. Cala Mondragó

You’ll spot Cala Mondragó’s dazzling waters peeking through from the surrounding crags and woodlands. A long stretch of sand and incredible natural beauty make this beach one to remember, meaning it's quite a popular choice for visitors. There is a beach bar, parasol rental service and a car park just a walk away.

2. Cala Deià

Just a walk away from the mountain village of Deià, you’ll discover a charming pebble beach secluded amongst orchards and lush trees. This little cove beach was once a fishing port, and is now popular among tourists and locals alike. Around this lovely cala are plenty of winding hiking paths and pretty orchards.

3. S’Amarador

Voted by The Sunday Times as one of the best beaches in the world, it's pretty obvious why S’Amarador has made our list. Surrounded by tall pine trees, this beach boasts long stretches of fine, white sand and clear, shallow water. Alongside this there is plenty of space to play, making the beach ideal for children. This must-visit beach is also just a mountain stroll from Cala Mondragó.

4. Playa d’Alcudia

Playa d’Alcudia is a large sandy beach with wonderful views, water sports and beach restaurants. This family paradise includes several playgrounds and shallow, child-friendly waters. Due to its family-friendly nature, the beach is well-visited, but there is plenty of room so it never feels too crowded.

5. Cala Formentor

Set at the base of a lush pine forest, Cala Formentor is one of the hottest swim-spots in North Mallorca. This crescent-shaped beach boasts warm, crystalline waters, a sand and pebble shore and areas of natural shade for cooling off. The beach is fairly small so can get busy around midday; make sure to get there early to secure a good spot.
