Mallorca, the largest island in the Balearic archipelago, is renowned for its landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. With its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and dramatic cliffs, Mallorca offers a picturesque retreat for families of sun-seekers and adventurers.

Pollensa for families

Tucked between two rolling hills towards the eastern end of Serra de Tramuntana is the ancient town of Pollensa, famous for its rich culture and historical charm, making it perfect for a family escape.

Where to eat

With an array of family friendly restaurants across Pollensa’s coast, Pollensa is the perfect place for children to branch out and try new foods, with a mild paella, patatas bravas, or a variety of Spanish meats and cheeses being our best bet for kids and young teens to try. Try visiting La Fonda for its authentic dishes and warm, rustic atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for something more contemporary, Cantonet is a must-visit, blending local flavours with modern culinary techniques. For seafood lovers, Stay Restaurant, located by the marina, provides fresh catches with waterfront views.

What to get up to

Whilst visiting Pollensa, why not take a trip to the beach for those travelling with young children. With nearby playgrounds available for those with babies and toddlers to play in the shade, the beach is a retreat for all ages. Many water sports operate in the area, so teenagers and grown up children can keep themselves busy by renting out a paddle board, partaking in kayaking; or even waterskiing for those feeling more adventurous. For anyone looking for more of an adventurous activity, climb the 365 Calvari Steps to reach a chapel at the top, offering breathtaking views of the town and surrounding mountains. For nature enthusiasts, the nearby Tramuntana Mountains provide excellent hiking trails with picturesque landscapes. Grandparents can enjoy the lively Sunday market that's a delightful spot to browse local crafts and fresh produce with the little ones.

Meanwhile, Casa Azul is also an ideal spot for a family holiday, perched right on Pollensa’s coast. With its homely interior and the sea at its fingertips, this haven is a suburb choice for anyone with young children.

Just adjacent to the Coves of Campanet sits Ses Coves, a beautiful family run restaurant overlooking one of Campanet’s picturesque extensive valleys. This restaurant serves traditional Spanish dishes and is big on meat and fish, though they are sustainable and also serve plenty of delicious vegetarian options. For the perfect family day out, we would strongly recommend booking a tour through the caves before refreshing yourself with the mouthwatering Spanish cuisine served at Ses Coves.
