From the first time I set foot on Greek soil in 1995, I knew I was destined to live here and have been in Kefalonia for almost 10 years. Although I am relatively new at CV Villas, my history within the travel industry is long. I really enjoy meeting my guests on their holidays and sharing my love and passion for Kefalonia with them to ensure they create memories and have a holiday to remember. It is a really stunning island with many hidden gems to explore, and guests come back here year after year.
Describe the perfect day in your destination?
My first stop would be a little cave bar for breakfast of fresh pancakes with locally sourced fruit and a Greek coffee, then off to the North of the island to discover the old ruins above Assos. Lunch at a local taverna by the sea and a photograph stop at Myrtos Beach on the way home for a panoramic shot of this famous beach from above.
What are your top travel tips for your destination?
Expect the unexpected – being in Greece we live a much slower pace of life, so switch off, relax and go with the flow! Bring plenty of sun cream, mosquito repellent and a large sun hat for protection from the sun whilst exploring.
What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?
Kreatopita or Kefalonian Meat Pie is the locally produced dish here. Its perfect with a large mouth-watering Greek salad, accompanied with some local organic Robola wine. There are also plenty of vegetarian options on the menu such as Gemista, fresh vegetables stuffed with rice.
What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?
Let someone else take charge of navigating Kefalonia for a day by chartering your own private yacht with crew – see hidden beaches and enjoy your freshly prepared lunch in secluded locations. By night, take a Jeep Safari to the mountain and gaze at the stars from the highest point on the island!
