ABOVE Liaison & Sustainability Officer
Emily Peratikou
Being brought up in Corfu in a bilingual environment gave me the opportunity to understand the differences and similarities of both cultures in various aspects. I have been working for CV Villas for 6 years and every year I look forward to the new challenges it provides. One of my greatest passions is travelling, so I like to make sure that my customers make the most of their holidays in every way possible.
Describe the perfect day in your destination?
I'm an adventurous person, so a perfect day in Corfu would start with an early breakfast of Greek yoghurt and seasonal fruit (yum) and then I would be off to explore the beautiful beaches of the island with some nice sandwiches in my cool box. During siesta time I would be relaxing around the pool, admiring the fabulous views and listening to the birds sing. Later in the evening, I'd head out for dinner at one of the local tavernas to enjoy a good meal, followed by a dance in one of the local bars.
What are your top travel tips for your destination?
As a traveller myself, researching your destination first is so important. Corfu is an emerald green island with beautiful flora and fauna, so make sure to bring your camera to capture some great photos from sea and land. A nice big hat, sun cream and mosquito repellent are also some of the most useful things to add to your suitcase. Corfu is quite laid back with a totally different rhythm to the UK! Just relax and enjoy the Mediterranean way of life.
What local cuisine would you recommend to people staying in your destination?
A Greek salad with juicy tomatoes is a must have on the table, with a loaf of freshly baked bread to dip into olive oil. Courgette balls, french fries, a plate of spicy tsigareli and a slice of fresh feta all washed down with a jug of local wine or Corfiot beer is just what you need for lunch! Don't worry if you have eaten too much - a shot of limonccelo or tsiparo will help you digest it.
What experiences would you recommend to our customers in your destination?
A day out on a boat is a must as you get to see the island from a totally different perspective. Jump into the crystal clear waters, snorkel around the rocks and visit secret beaches. Also, driving around the old villages for some traditional food and products is a great way to spend a day. If you're into a day on the beach, there are plenty to choose from that have watersports, snorkelling and scuba diving equipment for the kids, followed by an ouzo in a local taverna for the grown ups.
